Narrative
HENRICO COUNTY, VA – Two passengers in an SUV lost their lives and two other people were injured, one seriously, Thursday morning near Richmond after the vehicle collided with a box truck.
The double-fatal accident happened at South Laburnum Avenue and New Market Road. Officers with the Henrico County Police Division responded to the scene at 6:17 a.m.
An investigation into the cause of the two-vehicle crash remains underway, but first responders arrived to find a rolled-over box truck, as well as an SUV, in the nearby wood line.
Two passengers inside the SUV were pronounced deceased at the site.
The driver of the SUV, who suffered serious injuries, was transported to an area hospital, along with the truck driver, who sustained minor injuries.
Officials continue to investigate, but alcohol is not a suspected factor in the wreck.
