Narrative
FREDERICK CO., VA – Three people died Sunday in a head-on collision at an intersection in southwest Frederick County.
The accident happened just before 1:45 p.m. in the area of Wardensville Pike and Bushy Ridge Drive, which is just east of the Virginia and West Virginia state line.
Police say that a westbound 2007 GMC Sierra pickup truck and an eastbound 2019 Buick Encore Essence collided when the pickup truck entered the eastbound side of the roadway.
Both drivers died in the accident along with a passenger from the Buick.
Authorities identified the wrong-way driver as 60-year-old Donald R. Mallow, Jr. Mallow was unrestrained at the time of the crash.
The driver and passenger in the Buick were identified as Diana J. Harman, 60, and Patricia A. Gapp, 85.
