NEWPORT NEWS, VA – An adult male passenger suffered major injuries as a result of a single-vehicle hit-and-run crash early Wednesday in Newport News that left the car split in two.
According to Virginia State Police, one trooper happened to notice an Impala matching a report of a stolen vehicle when its driver disregarded a stop sign at about 1:52 a.m. Its driver sped away from the area after a VSP trooper activated their siren.
Not long after the vehicle traveled off the roadway and collided with a utility pole, causing the car to split into two pieces.
Officials said its driver was able to exit the vehicle and then flee the scene on foot, while their adult male passenger was rushed to Riverside Regional Hospital for serious injuries.
No charges have been reported as of this writing.
